Check out ifilm exclusive report on Iranian feature film ‘A Long Day’ directed by Babak Bahram-Beigi and starring Reza Behboudi.
Below are highlights of the report.
iFilm: Babak Bahram-Beigi has been active in the cinema industry for a while now and he has already made a few short films, but this is his first feature film.
Bahram-Beigi: I used to make short films and documentaries a while back. Also, I had written screenplays for a few friends of mine.
I had some experience in film editing and it was the right time for me to make my first feature film. I visited many locations. I had written a screenplay and believed in it.
We spent a lot of time on it but we couldn’t attract the attention of anyone to sponsor our project.
So, we managed to make an independent film with our team. It wasn’t based on any sort of mandate; a completely independent film. It was really hard but we managed to bring it to an end.
iFilm: The cast members are mostly theater actors and they have already shined in the theater industry. But now they star as cinema actors.
Bahram-Beigi: We tried to make use of our experience as well; the lead actor of the film is Reza Behboudi, who is a well-known theater actor, he is a great theater actor and has a good record in the cinema industry, too.
We asked him to take the lead role who carries the main burden of the film on his shoulder and he is present in all the scenes.
iFilm: The story of a long day begins with a memory.
Bahram-Beigi: One day, a friend of mine recounted a memory. It affected me a lot. I kept thinking about it, what if this had happened or that had happened.
The thought didn’t leave me and it grew day by day. I began to write about it with one of my friends who is a scriptwriter. We spent a lot of time on it and tested different versions and so we wrote the story till its end and other events happened in the film.
