Singapore bans Palestine documentary ‘Radiance of Resistance’

Singapore bans screening documentary film ‘Radiance of Resistance’ on Palestine in the country's fest.

Singapore bans a filmfest in the country from screening ‘Radiance of Resistance’, a documentary on Palestinian teenage heroine.

The film is about Palestinian girl Ahed Tamimi who has become the face of resistance by Palestinian youth against the Israeli occupation of her land.

The doc had been set to screen at the Singapore Palestinian Film Festival on Thursday.

However, authorities in Singapore canceled the screening, with the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) giving the film a Not Allowed for All Ratings classification.

Such a rating designates the film as illegal to be shown in any circumstances in Singapore.

The IMDA claimed that the film had a “skewed narrative” and could cause disharmony among races and religions in the country.

Multi-award winning ‘Radiance of Resistance’, directed by Jesse Roberts, has played at international venues since 2016.
