Iranian movie ‘Breath’ (Nafas) has been scheduled to be screened at Smith Rafael Film Center in the US state of California.
Narges Abyar’s Iraq-Iran war drama ‘Breath’ will be screened January 7 at the film institute under a program dedicated to foreign language films introduced to the Academy Awards.
The film is Iran’s Foreign Language Academy Award entry for 2018.
‘Breath’ delves into a child’s fantasy world, as adapted by director Narges Abyar’s own novel. Moments of her life are featured amid the tumultuous backdrop of the Iraq-imposed war against Iran in 1980.
Each year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invites countries to submit a single film for consideration in the competition category of Foreign Language Film. This year, in its 15th run, the Smith Rafael Film Center offers a choice sampling.
