Iranian short animated piece ‘Bystander’ has been scheduled to go on the screen at the third international Cefalu Film Festival in Italy.
Directed by Sheyda Kashi, the animation found its way into the competition section of the 2018 edition of the Italian film festival.
The 8-minute animation recently won the second prize in the animation or experimental film section of the 21st edition of the Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary.
It was previously screened at film events in Romania, Bosnia as well as the 4th edition of the Tehran Int'l Animation Festival.
The short flick narrates the story of an elderly man who is indifferent to the revolutionary people in his country. Looking upon his past, he was an active participant in another revolution during his youth.
According to the event website, the "Cefalù Film Festival Pino Scicolone" is a meeting point for the presentation and promotion of films and videos of every nationality, genre and duration that address the themes of friendship, the city, peace and the future. The third edition will take place on a free theme. Films and short films of up to fifteen minutes can compete. The films in foreign languages must have subtitles in Italian.
Cefalu festival awards the best film, selected from among 100 short movies, one thousand Euros. There are also the special jury prize, the best director award, the best actress and best actor awards, best foreign short film, and best animated short film, as well as the best script and best music.
The third edition of Cefalu Film Festival will be held June 1 to Sepember 1, in Cefalu, Sicily, Italy.
