ifilm has chosen an offering made by Iranian auteur Ebrahim Hatamikia to be broadcast for this weekend.
Directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, ‘The Scout’ is a 1988 production detailing the story of a number of Iranian soldiers trapped in an ambush and on the verge of losing ground, during the war imposed on Iran by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
A scout risks his life and passes through a route which is under heavy fire in order to find the soldiers and help them escape.
‘The Scout’ cast list includes Mehrdad Soleimani, Alireza Heidari, Gholamreza Ali-Akbari, Asghar Pour-Hajarian, Esmaeil Soltanian, Saeed Javanshir, Hossein Kiani, and Hamid-Reza Soltanian.
The movie has received the best directing award from the 7th Fajr Film Festival in 1988.
Its director, Hatamikia was born in 1961 and studied Scriptwriting and began his career with writing screenplays for short films about the eight-year Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s.
Hatamikia has made a number of movies, including ‘Mohajer’, ‘Scent of Joseph's Shirt’, ‘Minou Tower’, ‘Low Heights’ and ‘Bodyguard’, as well as series such as ‘Scarlet Soil’ and ‘The Green Ring’.
He was nominated several times and has so far received a number of domestic and international awards for his movies.
