Int’l Seagull Short filmfest to host ‘Alphabet’ in February

The Int’l Seagull Short Film Festival in Norway is to host Iranian short animation ‘Alphabet’.

The International Seagull Short Film Festival in Norway has set to screen Iranian short animation ‘Alphabet’.

Directed by Kianoush Abedi, the Iranian animation will go on screen at the competition section of the Norwegian event in February 2018.

Alphabet is a 3D animation produced in late 2017. The 6-minute animated piece depicts a nation that has forgotten the alphabet of living. They cannot see, cannot hear, and cannot speak, but the words are waiting for them eagerly.

“According to my observation, humans are moving away from their true selves with each passing day. The animation is for adults,” Abedi said about the story of his work.

The Iranian short animation is also set to vie at the 5th Sayulita Film Festival in Mexico, the second Malatesta Short Film Festival in Italy, the 2018 edition of the First City Film Festival, and the 8th Queens World Film Festival, both in the US.

The International Seagull Short Film Festival, which is holding its first edition this year, accepts films, animations and documentaries of less than 60 minutes.

It is slated for February 16-18 in Rogaland, western Norway.
