Iran reality feature ‘I’m an Iranian’, on the athletic life of world wrestling champion Alireza Heidari is to go on the silver screen at the 36th FFF.
Produced by Ahmad Najafi, renowned Iranian actor, and directed by Mohammadreza Ahanj, the flick was predominantly shot in Ukraine, under harsh weather conditions of minus 15 degrees centigrade.
Najafi described the athletic drama as one that he had planned for long, but was just able to kick off last year. Parts of the competition scenes have been shot in Iran’s Kermanshah and the capital, Tehran.
Part of the synopsis reads, ‘the migration of heartbroken people to cold territories has not, oftentimes, yielded warm hearts, although with love being there. This time, the migration of a wandering lover and an ex world champion in wrestling to where he does not belong, is our story. One that needs to be heard, as it puts it - I’m an Iranian’.
Najafi describes Alireza Heidari as a man enjoying academic knowledge, who is very organized – a factor that affected his satisfactory acting in the film. This was Heidari’s first acting experience.
The cast list includes several Ukrainian actors as well.
Najafi continued that the movie is replete with tragic scenes, and its public screening in this year’s Fajr filmfest will show how people like it.
The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) is slated for February 1-11, 2018, in Tehran.
