Two India film festivals celebrate Iran Cinema

Two film festivals in India continue to support and wave the banner for Iranian films.

Two film festivals in India continue to support and wave the banner for Iranian films.

The Ravindra Mini Theater in Mumbai starts on January 26th and will screen five films, including popular flicks ‘Salaam Mumbai’ and ‘Under the Smoky Roof’.

“While it is a positive sign how Iranian people are taking interest in Indian films, it is great to observe how Indian film lovers are also watching Iranian cinema… Through this festival, we want to spread out the beauty of Iranian cinema to the people of Mumbai,” said Mahdi Zare, director of the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran’s Cultural Office in India and the Federation of Film Societies of India are joint collaborators for this festival.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival, which is currently underway and ends on January 27, features several Iranian films as part of its schedule.

India has long welcomed films from Iran, as growing globalization of Iranian film continues.
