‘From Hasakah with Love’ to vie at Cinequest Film Festival

Iranian short film ‘From Hasakah with Love’ has been accepted to compete at the 28th edition of the Cinequest Film Festival in the US.

“A girl who lives in the ISIS invaded Kurdish city of Hasaka in Syria tries to find a way not to be captured by the terrorist fighters,” a short synopsis of the 9-minute film reads.

Directed by Mohammad Farahani, ‘From Hasakah with Love’ has succeeded to win Best Short Film Online Award at the DaVinci International Film Festival in the US as well as Best Subject and Best Film awards at the 11th edition of the Punto Di Vista Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian director Azadeh Ghochagh’s short flick ‘With Me’ and ‘Mother, I’m Joseph’ directed by Mohammad-Reza Fartousi are the other representatives of Iran at the 28th Cinequest.

The Cinequest Film Festival is an annual independent film festival held in San Jose, California. Cinequest awards the annual Maverick Spirit Awards. The festival has over 130 World or US premieres from over 30 countries.

The 28th edition of the event is scheduled to be held from February 27 to March 11, 2018.
