Iranian short animated piece ‘Bystander’ has won the ‘Best Animation’ prize at the 18th ‘Picture This’ film festival (PTFF) in Canada.
Directed by Sheyda Kashi, the animation was awarded the top prize by the event’s jury.
The 8-minute flick recently won the second prize in the animation or experimental film section of the 21st edition of the Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary.
It was previously screened at film events in Romania, Bosnia as well as the 4th edition of the Tehran Int'l Animation Festival.
The short flick narrates the story of an elderly man who is indifferent to the revolutionary people in his country. Looking upon his past, he was an active participant in another revolution during his youth.
The festival features films that are about disability and/or films on any subject that were produced, directed and/or written by people with disabilities.
The 18th ‘Picture This’ film festival is slated to be held April 11 to 14, in Calgary, Canada.
The event announces the winners list ahead of the closing ceremony, so that they would be able to participate and receive their awards.
