‘Lost Strait’ film director critiques own film

Last days of 1980-1988 Iraq-imposed war on Iran cannot be portrayed in just one film, director Bahram Tavakkoli says of his film ‘The Lost Strait’.

Last days of 1980-1988 Iraq-imposed war on Iran cannot be portrayed in just one film, director Bahram Tavakkoli says of his film ‘The Lost Strait’.

The true story depicted by Tavakkoli’s latest movie ‘The Lost Strait’ is too massive to be portrayed in one film, the director admitted during a press conference after a screening of his movie at the 36th Fajr Film Festival on Wednesday.

“The events are so remarkable that no film can depict them entirely,” he noted.

‘The Lost Strait’ depicts Iranian combatants in an epic battle during the last days of the 1980-1988 Iraq-imposed war on Iran.

The film shows how Iran’s Ammar battalion fought against the Iraqi soldiers in an unequal battle to hold the Abu Ghuraib Strait.

The story of ‘The Lost Strait’ (Abu Ghuraib Strait) is set in the last days of the war just before Iran accepted UN Resolution 598, which ended the war on July 20, 1988.

The film’s cast members include Javad Ezzati, Amir Jadidi and Hamidreza Azarang.

The 36th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) contender received rave reviews by several Iranian cineastes during its screening at the event in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The event kicked off on February 1, 2018 and is due to go on until February 11.
