The Int’l Orthodox Film Festival in Russia screens 5 Iranian films.

The International Orthodox Film Festival in Russia has screened five Iranian films.

The Russian event screened ‘A Long Day’, ‘Abji’, ‘Papeli’, ‘The Last Supper’, and ‘Alone among the Taliban’ from Iran.

Directed by Babak Bahram-Beigi, ‘A Long Day’ tells the story of Shahin who goes back to his homeland after a long time and finds himself in a moral dilemma.

The film cast includes Reza Behboudi, Shabnam Moqaddami, Alireza Ara, Morteza Youneszadeh, and Baran Ebrahimi.

Directed by Marjan Ashrafzadeh, ‘Abji’ (The Sis) narrates the story of two women, a mother and his daughter, who have lived together for more than 50 years, but the situation doesn’t remain the same and the separation time arrives.

Golab Adineh, Masoumeh Qasemipour, Pantea Panahiha, Hamidreza Azarang, Babak Hamidiyan and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh are the main stars of the flick.

Directed by Mahdi Zamanpour-Kiasari, ‘Papeli’ means butterfly. It highlights a period of time in the life of a family in the North of Iran when some 25 years ago the father of the family fell down from a tree and cut off his spinal cord.

He had climbed the tree to pick up foliage for his livestock, but the tragic incident occurred and his family has been taking care of him throughout all the years.

Made by Mohammad Qane-Fard, ‘The Last Supper’ is a documentary about the Christians in Syria.

Directed by Mohsen Eslamzadeh, ‘Alone among the Taliban’ is a 65-minute documentary about the director’s 15-day stay among the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The doc is a joint production of Iran and Afghanistan, showing the filmmaker’s visits to people’s homes, the jails and courts, while conducting interviews with local authorities and documenting the way they think and govern their states.

Founded in 2005, the International Orthodox Film Festival is held every year in Obninsk, Russia.

The 2018 edition of the event was slated for February 11-16, 2018.
