Athens Animfest to screen Iranian animation 'Run Rostam Run'

The 13th Athens Animfest in Greece is to screen Iranian animation 'Run Rostam Run'.

The 13th edition of the Athens Animfest in Greece has picked Iranian animation 'Run Rostam Run' in its Official Selection.

Directed by Hossein Molayemi, 'Run Rostam Run' is about an old Persian national hero who should travel to the future and come to Tehran 2017 in order to make up for what he has done to his own son. In Tehran, he doesn't know whether to choose the legal or illegal way to reach his legitimate goal.

The 11-minute animation is a free comic adaptation of the traditional Persian tragic story of Rostam and Sohrab in Ferdowsi's masterpiece 'Shahnameh'.

The animated film was first screened at the Tehran International Animation Festival where it won the best animation and the best director awards.

It has also succeeded to stand among the 8 award winners at the 8th edition of the Edukino Film Festival in Poland.

The Athens Animfest has also selected Iranian short animations ‘Alphabet’ directed by Kianoush Abedi and ‘Blows with the Wind’ directed by Hazhir Asadi for screening in the competition section.

The Greek festival is organized by the European Animation Center to bring the younger generation closer to the secrets and fascination of the art of animation and their diverse applications on the small and big screen, the multimedia, the internet and education in general.

The 13th edition of the Athens Animfest is slated for March 15-18 in Greece.
