Fajr Film Festival opens with Iran doc ‘Pale Blue’

Iranian documentary ‘Pale Blue’ opens the 35th edition of the Fajr Film Festival in the capital city of Tehran.

The Iranian flick by director, producer and screenwriter Arash Lahouti was screened at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Sunday.

‘Pale Blue’ reveals the life stories of four victims of the 1980-88 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, who have spent a long time together, Lahouti said.

The Iranian film was awarded at the 10th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite.

The Fajr Film Festival’s selection committee has announced 33 films that will vie for the Crystal Simorgh, and 11 movies will be screened in the non-competitive section (Iran Cinema Perspective).

Some other documentary movies to be screened at the festival include ‘Bazm-e Razm’ (Fest of War) by Seyed Vahid Hosseini and ‘Napadid’ (Vanished) by Farahnaz Sharifi.

Fajr Festivals are held annually in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn), which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
