Iranian movie ‘Yellow’ by Mostafa Taghizadeh has been selected as the closing film of Malaysia International Film Festival and Malaysia Golden Global Awards.
Taghizadeh’s ‘Yellow’ is to conclude the 2nd Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFEST) and Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA).
At the invitation of the festival’s chairman Ms. Joanne Goh, Taghizadeh is to hand out the award for Best First Film of a Director at the upcoming awards ceremony.
A Q&A session for ‘Yellow’ will be also held following the closing ceremony with the directors and actors for industry professionals and local audience in attendance.
Taqizadeh’s debut narrates the story of four youths who are the members of a scientific genius team trying to immigrate from Iran to Europe. Three days before their journey to Italy, one of them becomes comatose because of his unknown illness and it shocks the team tremendously. The crisis reveals layers of each of the four in the past and present, and leads to new decision-making and judgment.
Bahram Radan, Sareh Bayat, Mehrdad Sedighian, Bahareh Kianafshar, Shahram Haghighatdoust, Alireza Ostadi, Hossein Mehri, Anahita Dargahi, Morteza Taghizadeh, Amir-Ali Nabavian and Ali Salehi star in ‘Yellow’.
The film has been quite a hit at home, and managed to snatch a number of awards including Best Film and Best Screenplay at the III International Motivational Film and Sport Festival Bridge of Arts in Russia and the Jury Grand Prix of the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival in China.
MIFFest aims to promote the film festival to the younger generation to inspire and support the next generation of young filmmakers.
The 2nd Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFEST) and Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) will run from February 25 to March 3, 2018.
