Iran director reacts to questions about his movie 'Pig' in Berlin

Presenting his newest film 'Pig', Mani Haghighi has responded to the political questions directed at him at the 68th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany.

Iran director Mani Haghighi said at a press conference in Berlin his latest movie 'Pig' is a work of art which can be good or bad.

He stated that his movie is an artistic creation which can have its flaws or strengths.

"You seem to be asking me: 'How come there are these strong women in your film?' Well, because there are strong women in Iran and I chose to show them."

He added, “I like to tell you about how we conducted this project or to know what this movie means to its audience."

The director mentioned, 'Let us not forget that art is supposed to be a universal language which conquers all the barriers that separate us.."

He also asked the interviewers, 'Why do you think Iranian movies are like a guide book for visiting Iran?" "We are not to present our country and say look how victimized we are", he said.

Mani Haghighi also noted, "I invite you to see this one as a film."
