36th Fajr Int'l filmfest announces competition lineup

The 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (Fiff) has announced lineups of 15 features and 15 short films to compete at the Cinema Salvation section.

So far films from Kazakhstan, Turkey, Italy, China, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, South Korea, UK, Germany, Egypt, France, Iraq, Palestine, Taiwan, India, Georgia, Russia and Lebanon have made it into the shortlist of the Cinema Salvation.

Submission is still open and the deadline is set for March 1. The final shortlist of competing movies will be announced later in March or April.

A jury of five foreign and two Iranian members whose names will be announced later will judge the films.

The Fiff 2018 will present a Golden Simorgh to the best film and five Silver Simorghs for best director, best film script, best actor, best actress, and best artistic achievement.

Supervised by Iranian director Reza Mirkarimi, the 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival is slated for April 19-27, 2018, in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
