Iranian animation 'Run Rostam Run' has been selected to go on screen at the 2018 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.
Directed by Hossein Molayemi, 'Run Rostam Run' is about an old Persian national hero who should travel to the future and come to Tehran 2017 in order to make up for what he has done to his own son. In Tehran, he doesn't know whether to choose the legal or illegal way to reach his legitimate goal.
The 11-minute animation is a free comic adaptation of the traditional Persian tragic story of Rostam and Sohrab in Ferdowsi's masterpiece 'Shahnameh'.
The animated film was first screened at the Tehran International Animation Festival where it won the best animation and the best director awards.
It has also gone on screen at the 13th Athens Animfest in Greece and succeeded to stand among the 8 award winners at the 8th Edukino Film Festival in Poland.
Established in 1960, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival takes place annually at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France.
The event is a contest for animated films, classified in various categories with different techniques, including animated drawings, cut-out papers, and modeling clay.
The 2018 edition of the Annecy Film Festival is slated for June 11-16 in southeastern France.
