Iran film 'Confiscation' ranks first at Iran box office

Mehran Ahmadi’s 'Confiscation' has grabbed the first spot for this week at Iranian local box office.

According to a Thursday media report, the flick clinched the top spot among movies that went on show since the beginning of the new Persian year.

The weekend gross for the movie reached 31,685,140,000 Rials which placed it on the first spot among box office top hits of the week. The total gross for the movie has reached 74,337,680,000 Rials.

Set in the US and Armenia, ‘Confiscation’ is a comedy that follows the story of a SAVAK (Iran's security service before the Islamic Revolution) agent escaping to the US after the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

The feature-length comedy stars Reza Attaran, Houman Seyyedi, Babak Hamidiyan, Mehran Ahmadi and Mir-Taher Mazloumi.
