The first international trailer for Cannes opener 'Everybody Knows' by Iranian auteur Asghar Farhadi has been unraveled.
Paris-based Memento Films International has released the first trailer for ‘Everybody Knows’ directed by Asghar Farhadi that is to open the 71st Cannes Film Festival on May 8, 2018.
Farhadi's eighth feature film is shot entirely in Spanish on the Iberian Peninsula. It charts the story of Laura (played by Cruz) who travels with her family from Buenos Aires to her native village in Spain. An unexpected event twists the plot.
Real-life couple Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem star in the flick, with a cast that includes Ricardo Darin, Carla Campra, Inma Cuesta, and Barbara Lennie.
Memento Films International is handling international sales and has already pre-sold ‘Everybody Knows’ to Germany and Austria (Prokino), Latin America (Leda Films), Japan (Longride), Benelux (Cineart), China (Hi-Show), Greece (Seven), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Hungary (Mozinet), Poland (Gutek), Czech Republic and Slovakia (Aero Films), Russia and the Baltics (Mauris Films), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Switzerland (Frenetic), Taiwan (Movie Cloud), Turkey (Zeyno Films) and former Yugoslavia (Megacom).
The flick will be also released by Memento Films Distribution in 350 cinemas in France on May 9, the day after its Cannes premiere.
Likewise, Universal Pictures International will distribute the film in Spain in September under the original title ‘Todos Lo Saben.’
The 71st Cannes Film Festival will take place May 8-19, 2018. The official selection will be announced on Thursday, April 12.
