Iran revolutionary poet to be honored to be commemorated

Founding father of the Islamic Revolution poetry is to be honored in a ceremony on the last day the Decade of Fajr.

Founding father of the Islamic Revolution poetry Hamid Sabzevari is set to be honored in holy Iranian city of Mashhad on the last day of the Fajr Decade.

He will be honored in a ceremony based in Mashhad, head of Khorasan Razavi Artists Association was quoted by the media as saying on Sunday.

Mahdi Yamini also said that during the Fajr Decade we decided to mark these days by honoring “one of great figures of the Islamic Revolution poetry, adding in the line of this reasoning Hamid Sabzevari will be paid homage to through a ceremony.

Iran’s revolutionary poet Sabzevari died at 91 in 2016. He is mostly known for the music works composed in the heat of the Islamic Revolution and the early years after the historic event.

Born as Hossein Aqa-Momtaheni in 1925, Sabzevari began composing poetry at the age of 14. He composed poems in different styles including couplets, sonnets and blank verse. 

The victory of the Islamic Revolution is annually celebrated during a 10-day period. This year, the period falls between January 31 and February 10.
