Director unveils hardships in India production

Iran director says filmmaking in India was risky for him.

Iran director Majid Majidi has said the production of his blockbuster ‘Beyond the Clouds’ in India was a risk.

Addressing trainees in his filmmaking workshop on the sidelines of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival, Majidi said he finally accepted the offers by Indian producers, after several approached him.

The award-winning director noted that little acquaintance with the Indian culture had been the main reason behind his hesitation to make a film in India.

Majidi added that the movie was his first digitally pictured flick, a technology that could both give opportunities, and put the work at risk of trading off the film spirit.

Set in Mumbai’s impoverished underclass with Indian stars, ‘Beyond the Clouds’ revolves around issues happening to a teenage Indian girl and her brother dwelling on the adoration of love, life and nuanced human relationships.

The 2017 Indian melodrama is Majidi’s latest project after his blockbuster ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’.
