In the aftermath of the 1953 coup d'état in Iran, a number of journalists and political activists are arrested and deported to a detention center in a deserted area in south of Iran. The supervision of the camp is in the hands of a merciless sergeant who is constantly scheming to harass the prisoners. A number of political prisoners, tired of the difficult conditions in the prison, decide to escape.
