Emkanian, Bijan (born 1953, Abadan)
Bijan Emkanian studied Theatre at the Faculty of Fine Arts in University of Tehran.
He attended and passed a theater teacher training program at Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
Emkanian began his cinematic career by starring in the movie ‘The Sun dwellers’ in 1981.
Emkanian has appeared in a number of movies, including ‘The Night it Happened’ (1988), ‘The Burning Poplars’ (1989), ‘Song of Tehran’ (1991), ‘The Secret of the Matthiola’ (1993), ‘Rules of the Game’ (1997) and ‘Parya's Story’ (2010).
His performance in ‘Intersection’ (2005) earned him Iran Cinema Celebration Award for Best Actor In a Supporting Role. He was also nominated for the same award by starring in ‘Friday Soldiers’ (2003).
His other activities include producing as well as directing theatrical plays and 8mm movies.
