‘Star Wars’ actors take part in anti-Trump vids

‘Star Wars’ stars Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill have taken part in videos against US President Donald Trump, hours before the official day of the presidential election.

The videos were released on Monday, hours before the Election Day when Americans began heading to the polls on Tuesday to choose between Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

The two pieces are made by the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump group made up of Republicans, but who do not support his re-election.

Ford narrated one of the videos titled “Fauci”, which focused on Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and his criticism of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

The video advocated Fauci and urged people to vote against Trump.

It features a scene from a Trump rally on Sunday in which his supporters chanted “Fire Fauci!” and Trump responded, “Don’t tell anybody, but let me wait until a little bit after the election.”

Ford then says, “Tomorrow, you can fire only one of them. The choice is yours.”

Fauci, the longtime director of NIAID, was critical of Trump’s response to the COVID-19 in an interview with The Washington Post over the weekend.

 “We’re in for a whole lot of hurt. It’s not a good situation. All the stars are aligned in the wrong place as you go into the fall and winter season, with people congregating at home indoors. You could not possibly be positioned more poorly,” Fauci said.

Hamill appeared in another clip titled “Absentee”, which criticized Trump for attacking absentee voting. The US president claimed that voting by mail would lead to mass voter fraud.

In the video, Hamill appears on the screen of an old television, saying “Tyranny didn’t end with the American Revolution. Not for everyone. Not by a longshot ... Never before has the truth been so clear: elections have consequences.”

"President Trump has called for the election to be decided on and only on those ballots that arrive by November 3,” Hamill said, adding “If he gets his way, many who cast absentee ballots will not have their votes counted.”
