Written and directed by Ahmad-Reza Darvish, the movie is set during the siege of Khorramshahr, during Saddam Hussein’s war against Iran.
'The Duel' tells the story of a citizen soldier from a tribal village who returns home after spending 20 years in captivity as a POW only to see that he’s been slandered as a traitor.
The movie was nominated in 11 categories at the Fajr Film Festival and won seven Chrystal Simorgh awards, including the awards for best director, best visual effects, and best cinematography.
Made in 2003, the cast list of the film includes Pejman Bazeghi, Parviz Parastouee, Parivash Nazariyeh, Saeed Rad, Kambiz Dirbaz, and Hediyeh Tehrani.
