Iranian short film ‘The Hands’ won an award at the 2021 Brandenburg Choral Festival in the UK. Parviz Rajaee’s short flick, on determinism and free will, took home the best short film award from London's biggest and broadest film festival which was held online on June 29.
“Some are in stillness to be formed by hand, and others try to form”, a synopsis for the film reads.
Meanwhile, Iranian short film ‘Lenz’ was awarded at the International Youth Arts Festival in the UK. The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported on Wednesday that ‘Lenz’ won the Best Short Film award at the 13th edition of the festival.
Written and directed by Amir-Hossein Tabbat, the film is about a man who intends to commit suicide, but a video camera and photography change his fate.
The 12th Independent Celebration of Iranian Documentary Cinema announced the winners. Only winners and some of the crew members were invited to the gala, which was held very limited due to the pandemic, at the Iranian House of Cinema on Friday.
Made by Sam Kalantari and co-produced by Mohammad Shakibania and Mohsen Shahmohammad-Mirab, ‘No Place for Angels’ received the awards for best documentary feature and best cinematographer (Reza Teimuri).
