The Bajestan Playa (Kavir-e Namak) or Bajestan desert is Iran’s second playa with salt basins located in the southwest of Khorasan Razavi Province.

As one of the unknown attractions of the province, the Bajestan desert hosts many tourists from across the globe.

Sources say, “Playa is referred to as a basin or depression that formerly contained a standing surface water body.”

Every year, depending on the amount of rainfall in the Bajestan region, a desert lake appears, most of which is salt, and after the lake dries, the salt crystals and sediments of the earth form amazing shapes that are very spectacular and attract tourists.
