Located at the foot of a mountain right on the river bank in the city of Chenaran, 40 kilometers from Mashhad in Khorasan Razavi, Esjil Village is one of the most popular villages of the province in terms of climate and architecture as it enjoys a relatively mild and pleasant weather.

“Esjil Village has three types of climate: Temperate, dry and mountainous. A river is flowing in the village located on the northern slopes of the Binalood Mountain,” writes Iranian author Abbas Jafari in ‘Geology of Iran’.
There is an ancient fortified castle in Esjil, dating back to the Qajar Era. The castle was built with a high fence and several towers to guard the people who lived in it.

As one of the most important and popular tourist attractions of the region, the castle is registered on Iran’s National Heritage List.
Several historical hills are also situated in Esjil Village, adding up to the antiquity of the region.
