‘The Enigma of the Shah’ to hold sham trial: iFilm cut

‘The Enigma of the Shah’ is to hear Fada’iyan-e Islam defense on accusation of assassinating the prime minister.

In the 66th episode of iFilm’s historical series ‘The Enigma of the Shah’ to be aired at 22:00 GMT tonight, military court is to hear Fada’iyan-e Islam defense on accusation of assassinating the prime minister.  

Sadegh Amani, a main member of the Fada’iyan-e Islam group, expresses the real reasons behind the assassination of prime minister Hassan Ali Mansour as what classes of the society do the accused belong to and what is their motivations. 

He continues saying, “With a short look at their faces and an investigation into the jobs, opinions and beliefs of the accused, you can find the answer to all three questions, easily”.

“I as one of the accused, that have lived among the most original classes in society for twenty years, I’ve been in contact with thousands of people and there is no evidence of me having any immoral behavior or attitude… I am one of the calm and harmless people in society; because, I was born and raised in a religious family atmosphere and by the way I have had a life of luxury. Nothing but religion could have influenced or affected me in my personal goals”, he added.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Varzi, ‘The Enigma of the Shah’ recounts Iran’s contemporary history, beginning with the rule of Reza Shah Pahlavi and ending with the Islamic Revolution of Iran which brought down the Pahlavi Dynasty.

In 1979, the Iranian nation rose up to bring an end to the dictatorship of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.

Led by a charismatic leader named Ayatollah Khomeini, Iranians finally succeeded in changing the country’s system to an Islamic Republic.

Some of the most notable on the prolific cast list are Jafar Dehqan, Hessam Navvab-Safavi, Ali Dehkordi, Rahim Norouzi, Arsalan Qasemi, Mehraveh Sharifinia, Hadis Fouladvand, Mohammad-Reza Sharifinia, Gohar Kheirandish, Siavash Tahmoures and Sorayya Qasemi.
