‘Passing through the Hardships’: A twist of fate

In the 10th episode of iFilm’s period drama ‘Passing through the Hardships’ to be aired at 23:00 GMT tonight (2:30 Tehran time), viewers will witness a dramatic turn of events that will leave them on the edge of their seats.

Shamsollah, a prominent member of the family, finds himself at a crossroads as he seeks to secure his family's heritage by ensuring his son's (Hedayat) remarriage to another girl from a wealthy background. However, his motivations are questioned by Hedayat’s first wife, Katayoun, who believes that Shamsollah’s desire for a son is merely an excuse to extend his power.

Enters Marjan, a close friend of Hedayat and Katayoun. Recognizing the complex situation at hand, Marjan intervenes and proposes a solution that may satisfy both Shamsollah's wishes and Katayoun's concerns.

Marjan suggests that Hedayat should consider marrying Donya, Marjan's housemaid, under the understanding that they will have a son together and then divorce amicably. This unconventional arrangement would allow Hedayat to fulfill his duty to his family without defying his father's wishes or offending his first wife by marrying into a higher social class.

However, this proposal presents a profound challenge for Donya. A young woman who left her village in search of a better life and to support her sick father, she now finds herself thrust into a completely different world.

With no say in the matter, Donya must comply with her boss's decision and adapt to her new circumstances. Donya's journey, once filled with hopes of a brighter future, takes an unexpected and challenging turn.
