Renowned Indian filmmaker Dr. Biju honors Havva Int’l Film Festival

Award-winning Indian filmmaker Dr. Biju has graced the 1st Havva Int'l Film Festival in Tehran.

Dr. Biju (Bijukumar Damodaran), a three-time national award-winning filmmaker renowned for his authentic Indian storytelling, has graced the 1st Havva International Film Festival in Tehran.

Acknowledging the festival's distinct emphasis on women and family, he, a prominent voice in Indian cinema, praised its dedication to valuing these fundamental pillars in a world increasingly driven by entertainment and fast-paced films.

As an esteemed attendee of various festivals worldwide, Dr. Biju commended the organizers' efforts in holding such a significant event.

Dr. Biju's debut film ‘Saira’ premiered at Cannes in 2007 and he has since directed 13 films, earning recognition and prestigious awards at festivals like Shanghai, Cannes, and Moscow. As a respected jury member, he has contributed his expertise to renowned film festivals worldwide and served on 2012 India's National Film Awards jury as well as the 2015 Oscar selection committee.

Organized by the Goharshad International Foundation, the prestigious Havva International Film Festival is currently enchanting audiences at Tehran's Farhang Cinema and across multiple provinces in Iran.

Inspired by the influential Women's Congress, this inaugural festival aims to foster cultural discourse surrounding the pivotal roles of women and family.

Under the resounding slogan "We Stand for the Family", the festival creates a vital platform for showcasing and distributing works centered on women and family, both within Iran and on a global scale. It unites filmmakers who share an appreciation for the importance of family while highlighting the instrumental role of women within it.

With an impressive lineup of feature films, short films, and documentaries, the festival presents a diverse range of narratives exploring profound themes related to women and family. These captivating works are showcased in separate national and international sections, promising attendees an enriching cinematic experience.

Running from July 7th to July 14th, the festival's duration coincides with Iran's national observance of "Family Day", further emphasizing its significance within the local context.

Dr. Biju's presence at this esteemed event adds to the festival's grandeur, as his remarkable career and contributions to Indian cinema exemplify the spirit of storytelling that the festival cherishes.
