The graves were discovered through exploration in the ancient site of Izgam Dasht in Ramsar County, Mazandaran Province.
The Public Relations of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Mohammadreza Khal'atbari told the media that the excavation of this unique ancient site in western Mazandaran began in 2017, which led to the discovery of artifacts from the Middle Chalcolithic, Iron Age, historical, and Islamic periods.
A member of the archaeological research center's scientific team added: The results of the first season of excavation at this ancient site were published in a book titled "Ramsar in the Course of History" and received great popularity among the cultural communities of Ramsar.
He mentioned that the second season of excavation at this ancient site was started again after a six-year hiatus due to various reasons, including the outbreak of the COVID-19, considering the importance of the subject.
