Silver lining to be seen in ‘The Doormat’: iFilm cut

In the 13th episode of the comedy series 'The Doormat' on iFilm English TV Channel, the perpetually stuck man at life's crossroads may finally discover a glimmer of hope.

Firouz and Behrouz need to raise some capital to establish a new carpet-washing workshop or their situation will get even direr any day that passes. To do so, they find their way to the bank to ask for some loan; however, the facilities the bank has to offer are not that easy to achieve.

It will take at least half a year before they can get their hand on the loan money, taken that they can meet the conditions the bank has for offering the credit.

When they eventually leave the financial institute in total despair, Behrouz sees a notice hanging on the outer façade of the bank building with the name of Firouz’s wife on it.

The notice reads, “Ms. Effat Soozanchian is the winner of the big 250,000,000-rial prize for the savings accounts in this branch”.

Produced by Seyyed-Mahmoud Razavi and directed by Mohammad-Hossein Latifi, ‘The Doormat’ revolves around the life story of some characters, who go beyond and come up with some get-rich-quick ideas.

Firooz used to run a carpet washing center but, since it closed down, he has had a hard time keeping his clients. His brother-in-law, Nosrat, unknowingly gets involved in some illegal activities and creates trouble for his family as well as his neighbors.

The star-studded cast includes Behnam Tashakkor, Sima Tirandaz, Houman Barqnavard, Amir-Hossein Rostami, Negar Abedi, Majid Yasser, Ebrahim Azadi, Shahin Taslimi, Jamshid Mashayekhi, Karim Qorbani, Sadreddin Hejazi, and Mohammad-Reza Shirkhanlou.

The show is aired daily at 18:00 GMT. iFilm English TV re-airs each episode the following day at 00:00, 09:00, and 15:00.
