Behrouz Afkhami announces ‘Hannibal's Code’ on a Jewish woman

Renowned Iranian director Behrouz Afkhami has revealed plans for his upcoming film ‘Hannibal's Code’.

Renowned Iranian director Behrouz Afkhami has revealed plans for his upcoming film, ‘Hannibal's Code’, which will tell the story of an elderly Jewish woman during a tumultuous period.

The film, which is currently in the scripting phase, will explore the woman's experiences during the early stages of 2014 Gaza War (AKA Operation Protective Edge).

According to a report by Mehr News Agency, Afkhami is meticulously crafting the script in Hebrew, Arabic, and English, a task that requires extensive research and time.

The director described the plot as focusing on an 80-year-old Jewish woman who was arrested by Hamas at the start of the conflict.

She was held for 15 days before being released to the Red Cross. During her captivity, she formed a close bond with Palestinian resistance fighters in the tunnels. Her actions during this time, including a fervent farewell to Hamas members and her outspoken criticism of the Netanyahu government upon her release, are central to the narrative.

Afkhami emphasized that ‘Hannibal's Code’ is not a joint production, with the dialogues exclusively in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

He also hinted at the possibility of involving foreign actors in the film, noting that some, like Susan Sarandon, have publicly opposed the actions of the Zionist regime and the United States.

Afkhami is a prominent figure in Iranian cinema, with an impressive portfolio that includes films such as ‘The Fox’, ‘Devil's Day’, ‘The Bride’, and television series like ‘Mirza Koochak Khan’ and ‘Operations 125’.
