Iran preeminent master of film makeup Jalal Moayyerian has opened up about his share in ifilm TV series ‘The Tenth Night’.
As a leading practitioner of his craft, Moayyerian joined ‘The Tenth Night’ team along with his son and daughter-in-law who are also makeup artists.
Since the series included people from Qajar tribe as well as Ta'zieh passion play and people performing Ta'zieh, the makeup – as put by Moayyerian – had to fit well to the screenplay and the ambiance of the series.
‘If someone had the role of Yazid, he had to be worn a Yazid-like makeup. Or someone who was to play the role of a companion to Imam Hussein (AS), he had to be worn Hussein-like makeup. So my all attempts were to manifest the inside angelic or devil look on the outside in a way it fits well to the screenplay,” adds Moayyerian.
His son Babak Moayyerian also joins the interview as one of the makeup designers of the TV series and talks about some of the difficulties they faced.
“It was the first time we had such experience. Black contact lens was not available in Iran back then. We used to go to Dubai to purchase black contact lens or order it from other countries,” says Babak.
‘The Tenth Night’ hits ifilm TV screen every night at 18:00 GMT with three playbacks on the next day at 00:00, 09:00 and 15:00 GMT.
