Yousef overhears the tribe elders discussing the vital issue of whether to support Imam Hussein (AS) or to backstab him and pledge allegiance to Yazid.
The man, who knows well what will come of their infidelity towards the third Shia Imam, enters their tent without permission to warn them of the aftermath of their unfaithful decision.
“Do you know what you’re doing? You’re simply talking of killing someone who’s one-of-kind, one who’s the credit of our religion. I swear to God you’re making a big mistake. You’re incurring person’s curses and imprecations. Of all people to come Hussein has a reason of reviving Islam and you want to abandon him? And you will”, says Yousef.
The series, directed by Hossein Soheilizadeh, is set in both the 7th century and the present day.
The leading character is kidnapped and left for dead, suspected of being in possession of important documents which could destroy the reputation of prominent figures in the town.
He is fighting with death and in his imagination he travels to the 7th century just before the Karbala event happens to Imam Hussein (PBUH), his family and his companions.
Meanwhile, the daughter of the man is searching for him in the present time.
The series cast list includes Hamed Behdad, Elham Hamidi, Siavash Tahmoures, Shahram Abdoli, Faramarz Qaribian, Habib Dehqan-Nasab and Zohreh Hamidi.
‘The Last Invitation’, made in 2008, is scheduled to go on air at 19:00 GMT.
