Hatamikia, Ebrahim (born September 23, 1961, Tehran)

Ebrahim Hatamikia studied Scriptwriting and began his career with writing screenplays for short films about the eight-year Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s.

He directed his first feature film ‘Identity’ in 1986. He established himself as a director who addresses issues pertaining to the Iraq-Iran war and its aftermath with films such as ‘The Scout’ (1988), ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’ (1992) and ‘The Glass Agency’ (1997).

Hatamikia does not create fake and unrealistic heroes in his films; rather his characters are based on real people. 
He has made a number of movies, including ‘Mohajer (Immigrant)’ (1989), ‘Green Ashes’ (1993), ‘Scent of Joseph's Shirt’ (1995), ‘Minou Tower’ (1995), ‘Red Ribbon’ (1998), ‘Dead Wave’ (2000), ‘Low Heights’ (2001), ‘The Purple’ (2004), ‘In the Name of Father’ (2005), ‘Invitation’ (2008), ‘Che (Chamran)’ (2012), ‘Bodyguard’ (2015), and ‘Damascus Time’ (2017).

Hatamikia has also made series such as ‘Scarlet Soil’ (2001) and ‘The Green Ring’ (2007).

As an actor he has appeared in movies such as ‘The Scout’ (1988), ‘Scent of Joseph's Shirt’ (1995), ‘Invitation’ (2008), and ‘The Private Life of Mr. and Mrs. M’ (2011).

He was nominated for two Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Simorghs for Best Script and Best Director for ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’, but it was ‘The Glass Agency’ that won him two Crystal Simorghs.

‘Invitation’ is the last film of Hatamikia which nominated him for Best Screenplay and Best Directing at Iran Cinema Celebration Statue.

He has so far received several domestic and international awards for ‘In the Name of My Father’, ‘Red Ribbon’, ‘The Glass Agency’, ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’, ‘Mohajer (Immigrant)’, ‘The Scout’, ‘The Purple’, and ‘Che (Chamran)’.
He won the best director award at the 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival for directing ‘Damascus Time.
