Iran actor grabs US fest top award

Iranian actor Reza Behboudi has won the best actor award from the 14th Tiburon International Film Festival in the US.

Behboudi was picked for his lead role in ‘Chanel’, directed by Hossein Kondori in 2017, produced by Alireza Shoja-Nouri and written by Hamid-Reza Baba-Beigi.

The story narrates life of a nursing woman who lives with her child in special circumstances, and she experiences adventures due to events and mistakes.

‘The woman is originally an Afghan, living in Iran as a refugee; her daughter therefore, isn’t issued a birth certificate. The woman marries an Iranian man, and that’s the beginning of dramatic changes in her life’, part of the synopsis reads.

Five other Iranian movies were also competing in the festival.

The 14th edition of the TIFF was held April 20-27, 2018, in California, US.
