Vienna filmfest to screen Iran doc

Iran documentary 'Hamja' by Mehdi Qanavati is to be screened at Ethnocineca - International Documentary Film Festival Vienna, Austria.

The film event includes five focus programs and Iran 'Hamja' will participate in On Women – Paths to Self-Determination section.

Films in this strand depicts "strong women in search of justice and emancipations," the fest's official website read.

The 58-min doc tells the story of a man called Abdolhassan who has built a village for himself and his family. The village is located in the southern Iranian province of Boushehr.

Their income comes from farming and livestock. There is a private school at the village where the students are all brothers and sisters. Abdolhassan has managed to electrify the village. He has four wives and 27 children.

The flick has previously won best middle-length doc title at Cinema Vérité, Iran International Documentary Film Festival.

Ethnocineca - International Documentary Film Festival is a platform embedded into a network of cultural, scientific and social institutions and initiatives.

The festival is scheduled for May 4-10, 2018 in Austria capital, Vienna.
