'Everybody Knows' receives admiration

'Everybody Knows' directed by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi has succeeded to attract the attention of film critics on the first day of screening at the 71st edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Critics started to praise and write about the Iranian director's new film after its first screening at the opening ceremony of the Cannes.

Peter Bradshaw who wrote about the flick at The Guardian used a five-star rating system and gave it a four of them.

"The outer threat, the inner wound and the mystery in between. These are the determinant factors in Asghar Farhadi’s intimately painful and powerfully acted kidnap drama, crucially anchored by three heavyweight performances from Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Ricardo Darín," Bradshaw mentioned.

"The movie explores family intrigues and the moral dilemmas of a woman whose life is turned upside down when she returns from Argentina to her native village in Spain with her husband and children," a short synopsis of the flick read.

Starring Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, 'Everybody Knows' (Todos Lo Saben) is Farhadi's first movie in Spanish and the first Spanish-language movie that launched the Cannes Film Festival.

The 71st annual edition of the event, currently running, will come to conclusion on May 19, 2018, in Cannes, France.
