Bestselling films at Iranian box office for May 3-9, 2018, have been unveiled with 'Lottery', The Elephant king', and 'Confiscation' still ruling after 8 weeks of screening.
Top movies at the Iranian box office from Thursday last week through Wednesday include:
‘Texas' directed by Masoud Atyabi (14,990,590,000 Rials, Total gross: 44,024,840,000 Rials), 'Lottery' directed by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian (Weekly gross: 8,075,190,000 Rials, Total gross: 131,609,700,000 Rials), ‘The Elephant King’ directed by Hadi Mohammadian (Weekly gross: 7,929,170,000 Rials, Total gross: 58,487,620,000 Rials), and ‘Confiscation’ directed by Mehran Ahmadi (Weekly gross: 5,705,780,000 Rials, Total gross: 141,622,280,000 Rials).
‘Texas’ has an action comic theme and enjoys some foreign stars. “Never threaten an Iranian, even in Texas,” the tagline for the flick says.
'Lottery' wants to give his audience a mental image. The movie is about protective men. “Amir-Ali and Noushin want to get married but their families disagree. They decide to remain patient. They have dreams about winning the US Foreign Ministry lottery for Green Card,” a short synopsis of the flick reads.
‘The Elephant King’ produced by Iran-based Honar Pooya Group narrates the story of an elephant who rules over its group like a king. The queen bears him a son and everybody expects the son to replace his father as heir to the throne. The clumsy baby elephant, however, disappoints them all.
‘Confiscation’ is a comedy that follows the story of a SAVAK (Iran's security service before the Islamic Revolution) agent escaping to the US after the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
