Serbia opens Iranian Film Festival

Cinematic Museum of Kinoteka in Belgrade has opened the 16th edition of the Iranian Film Festival as part of the programs planned to mark the 38th victory anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

“Such cultural events will help the two nations to develop more understanding of each other,” Iran’s Ambassador to Serbia Hossein Molla-Abdollahi said during the opening ceremony that was held on Wednesday.

The ambassador also referred to the global achievements of Iranian cinema industry and noted that the festival is scheduled to screen a selection of films by acclaimed Iranian directors, including the late filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

The festival is slated to screen ‘Where Is Friend’s House’ directed by Kiarostami, ‘Melbourne’ directed by Nima Javidi, ‘Fish and Cat’ directed by Shahram Mokri, ‘Bodyguard’ directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia and ‘Where Are My Shoes?’ directed by Kioumars Pourahmad.

The 16th edition of the Iranian Film Festival opened on February 8 in Belgrade is a six-day program.
