Iran docs to go to Golden Tree festival

The 3rd edition of the Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival in Germany has scheduled to screen six films from Iran.

The official selection of the festival will screen 'A Woman Who Has No Name' directed by Farzad Khoshdast.

The documentary depicts four young women who share their thoughts from behind the bars at a prison for women near Tehran.

A section dedicated to medium-length documentaries will show 'Once Hamoun' directed by Mohammad Ehsani and 'Women Serving Life' directed by Mohammad-Sadeq Esmaeili.

Ehsani's documentary reviews the numerous environmental and social problems caused by the shrinkage of Lake Hamoun in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Esmaeili's 'Women Serving Life' is about seven women whose husbands are serving life sentences for trafficking illegal drugs.

The short documentary section will offer 'Affidavy for Khanali' directed by Arman Qolipur, 'Chocolate Story' directed by Yousef Jafari, and 'Exist' directed by Payam Shadnia.

A lineup of 80 films will be screened in the various categories of the German festival.

The 3rd edition of the Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival, with the theme of “Roots and Future of Culture”, is slated for September 19-22, 2018, in Frankfurt.
