Australia to host Iran animation

Animated piece ‘The Last Fiction’ is scheduled to be screened at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia.

Ashkan Rahgozar’s debut feature will compete at the 12th edition of the event.

The animated film is the story of an evil figure in Iranian mythology, Zahhak. It is a free adaptation of a story from Iran’s classic literature.

The 120-minute animated movie deals with the narrative of Zahhak and covers the events from the end of Jamshid’s reign up to the beginning of Afaridoun’s reign; two influential rulers in Shahnameh (Book of Kings) by Iranian classic poet Ferdowsi.

The film won recognition and was presented as one of the best ongoing projects at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.

It was also invited to the Marché du Film (lit. Film Market), which is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival and one of the largest film markets in the world.

Established in 2007 and headquartered in Brisbane, APSA is an international cultural program.

The 12th edition of APSA presents the awards to the winners in Brisbane, Australia, on November 29, 2018.
