Veteran actor Shajareh passes away

Veteran Iranian actor, director, playwright, and producer Sadreddin Shajareh has passed away.

He died due to an infectious disease in a hospital in Tehran on June 20 at the age of 66.

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) will hold a commemoration ceremony for the deceased on June 25.

Born in 1952, Shajareh started his artistic career with poetry, literature and music as a teenager.

He has been involved in production of a number of radio plays, including some of the world masterpieces such as 'The Grapes of Wrath' by John Ernst Steinbeck, 'Fathers and Sons' by Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev, 'The Metamorphosis' by Franz Kafka, and almost every play by Anton Chekhov.

Shajareh has directed movies and series such as 'When Yen Disappeared', 'Sun on Roof', 'Singing in Rain', and 'White and Black'.

As an actor he has appeared in a number of series, including 'Sattar Khan', One of Days', 'Humans' Earth', 'Moon and Leopard', 'Better Days', The Enigma of the Shah', and 'Zero Degree Turn'.
