Indie Best Films Festival in the US has nominated Iran animation 'Nobody' by Elham Toroqi for semi-final round of competition.
Iranian animated short ‘Nobody’ was picked as semifinalist at the 2nd Indie Best Films Festival (Ibestff) in US.
The 9-minute animation, which features no dialogue, tells the story of a white cat living in city of black residents. The cat tries hard to get food but no one seems bothered to give any.
‘Nobody’ has been previously announced to vie at the 2019 Student Academy Awards competition, the winners of which will be eligible for Oscar consideration.
The animation has so far succeeded to win Special Jury Award at the 11th edition of the ANIMANIMA International Animation Festival in Serbia in 2017.
As put by the festival's website, Ibestff aims to “help talented film artists, who create meaningful films that are worth seeing and sharing, but lack the backing of studios, expensive marketing campaigns or famous personalities.”
