What led to the dynamic pictures we digitally watch today on the silver screen was a breakthrough every step of the way. ifilm invites you to join a walkthrough of those events, in a chronological order.
Having covered some major events till 1891, here is another historical period.
1892
The first public show of an animated picture was depicted in Paris. It comprised 3 cartoons, each consisting of five to six hundred painted images and lasting about a quarter of an hour. That was the first movie ever to use perforations.
1893
The earliest example of actors performing roles in a movie went on the screen in a public exhibition in May 1893. It was the first Kinetoscope film by the date.
In December the same year, world’s first film production studio was completed after about a year of construction work on Edison’s laboratories in New Jersey, the US. The project’s goal was to produce film strips for the Kinetoscope (discussed and illustrated in the previous edition of this series of articles).
