Aired movie under spotlight – ‘The Corridor’

‘The Corridor’, recently aired on ifilm, is a movie much reviewed by Iranian critics; we thought you deserve a share, in the following few installments. Here’s the first part.

Critic 1: Ali Farsi

Despite all I said so far about the choice of the controversial topic, the movie is a blockbuster. Like many other films, the screenwriter brings you in from the perspective of the person being capital punished in retaliation for first degree murder, which gives more room to sentiments.

However, it doesn’t make the mistake of going to extremes, and doesn’t snap-judge. The movie recognizes the right to retaliatory capital punishment, for the murdered person’s family, and doesn’t overlook such right.

On the other hand, it puts forward the family dad’s admitting the sin, and the process of pardon; hence the dialog ‘you’ve committed an offense. They might shut the door before you, or even hurt you, but you’ve made a mistake, and should apologize’. The way retaliation is dealt with is made so pleasant, and eventually, mercy and forgiveness are promoted. That’s a successful screenplay.
