Iran short documentary 'The Rock' is to vie at 2018 Apricot Tree Ujan International Film Festival in Armenia.
Directed and written by Hamid Jafari, the 25-minute short doc narrates the story of a woman in black who breaks stones out of a rock wall using a crowbar and her bare hands.
She lives nearby in a hut made of stones dug out of the rock. Her day-to-day life is divided between the care she provides to her husband and the long hours spent extracting stones.
The film has had some international screenings including the 28th edition of New Orleans Film Festival in the US.
Apricot Tree Ujan International Film Festival (Ujan IFF) takes place annually in the beginning of autumn in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan and the village of Ujan.
The event screens ethnographic documentary films that depict diverse ethnic groups and communities. It is a platform where filmmakers from around the world can meet, share and discuss ideas and possibly make plans for future collaborations.
The 14th edition of the festival is slated for September 15-21, 2018.
